The many symbolisms of an elephant perfectly summed up the story and was undoubtedly the only choice for the front cover of Towards the Within. Elephants are known to be removers of obstacles and have the strength to carry out long and difficult journeys. They are renowned for their wisdom and loyalty towards family. But they intuitively know that not all family can be trusted.
Elephants focus on relationships that last for life and are a symbol of unnecessary burden. However, an elephant can also destroy everything its path, and like the mind, it can lead to self destruction. The saying, The Elephant in the Room, I think is quite apt to Towards the Within; the obvious problem or difficult situation that people do not want to talk about.
Elephants played a large part of my trip around India. Not only did I spend time with these wonderful creatures, but they are featured within so many aspects of Indian religion and society.
